Anger-may be caused by Warrior Gene - Dr. Phil Topic - Daytime TV

Daytime TV - Entertainment?
I took a break from my online computer endeavors yesterday afternoon to watch Dr. Phil. His show is on every week day, mid afternoon.
Day after day Dr.Phil churns out shows that offer advice. He helps humans afflicted by a wide variety of issues that contribute to family breakdown. He covers topics such as teenage runaways, bullying, cheating, lying, child and sexual and other abuses etc;
Once in a while he pushes the envelope and I feel like I'm watching an episode of Maury Povich.
If you have ever watched Maury Povich you will recall that his guests usually wail, cry, try to attack each other, generally show few signs of self control, as they are informed of DNA and lie detector results given to their friends and loved ones.
Dr.Phil doesn't allow his guests to exhibit such displays of unfettered emotion but I bet more than a few of his guests have had the desire to pop him in the eye as he delivers his acerbic advice on sensitive subjects.
Dr. Phil is blunt, but his advice is usually sound.
Regardless, at the end of the day, Dr.Phil ends up dishing out straight up advice that some of his guests would do well to follow. He also often provides access to therapists, treatment centers etc; in order to help his guests work through their issues.
Warrior Gene
The topic of Dr.Phil's show yesterday was about the discovery of a Warrior Gene. It has been proven that some people actually do have this gene. The existence of this gene helps explain why some people are more given to fits of rage than others.
Men are twice as likely as women to have this gene.
If you go to Dr.Phil's website you can read more about this gene. There are instructions on the site on how to go about getting yourself tested to see if you have the gene.
People that test positive for this gene are inclined to flip out easily in certain situations and are more prone to displaying anger through words and actions much quicker than those of us without it.
Dr.Phil went on to explain that having the Warrior Gene is not an excuse to continue destructive and hurtful behaviours. Discovering you have the Warrior Gene helps to explain why some people fly into a rage at the slightest thing. Events the average person wouldn't view as provocation may trigger someone with the gene, send them flying into a frenzied rage.
The good news is that there are steps you can take to lesson the impact of your anger.
Finding out you have the Warrior Gene is a head's up that you need to pay attention to and deal with your rage, in a more appropriate manner. Rage and extreme anger are never acceptable ways to deal with life's strife.
Some Ways to Help Yourself
When feelings of rage consume you, the residual effect is often that friends and loved ones distance themselves from the energy.
Everyone benefits, your mate, your children, your pets, when the person feeling rage learns to deal with it in a constructive way.
Here are some tips on what you can do so your anger doesn't get away on you.
- Think before speaking
- Don't hold a grudge
- Take time out and get some space
- Use humor
- Practise relaxation tips
These are but a few ways to deal with instant anger. It takes time to change behaviours.
If you are consistent you will eventually benefit from learning how to control your rage and anger.
Your Authentic Self
When you are anything other than your own authentic self, it feels like you have a hole in your soul, that you are not complete. It feels easier to fill the roles that friends and family have come to expect of you rather than following your own path.
Relationships take compromise, patience and understanding. When you are not being true to yourself, when you are not being authentic, you suffer.
When you have the Warrior Gene, you need to work harder at being calm, assertive and kind.
Your authentic self is a composite of your skills, talents and wisdom. Your authentic self is comprised of all the things that make you unique and original. It is not what you believe others expect of you.
The idea is to learn to love ourselves for who we truly are, not our vision of what we want other people to believe about us.
Watching Dr.Phil is a great way for me to relax, unwind, and find fodder for my hubs.
Make it a great day.
