Spreads and Readings

Tarot is an entertaining, meaningful and legitimate way to ask for support from the Universe. This may sound like a flaky statement to some folks, but those folks probably wouldn't be Googling 'Tarot' and potentially ending up on my page anyway!

There are many different tarot card decks and just as many ways to lay them out.

Anyone that reads cards had their own unique perspective on how to interpret the cards and weave a story about what they see.

My personal favorite is the Motherpeace deck.

Since stumbling upon the Motherpeace deck a few years ago, I have spent many hours playing with the cards, examining the images and meanings, to unravel the lessons/messages being offered.

There are many ways to lay the cards out. I often use this eleven card spread for an in depth reading. Please follow the above link if you want a detailed description of what each position in the layout means.

If I simply want a quick snapshot of my day, I use a three card spread. It is a fun way to get a feel for what is going on in my life in the moment.

The three cards in this spread are used to indicate Past-Present-Future.

The meaning of the first card reveals the context, the basis.

The second card reveals what is happening in the present, the focus.

The third card, in the future spot, reveals the outcome of the reading.

The meanings of the cards are intended to assist one in looking at the issues of the day, perhaps alert the seeker to stumbling blocks that may prevent one from moving forward in a positive way. I don't believe there are hidden, deep and dark meanings in the cards. The cards offer a 'horoscope like' synopsis of your mood and well-being.

Interpretation is subjective. If you look for negative interpretations that is what you will see, if you choose to look for the positive, that will make itself known in abundance.

When I read my cards, I attempt to clear my mind and read the cards with neither positive or negative emotion attached to the outcome. Sometimes dark energy shows up in a reading but quite simply, there is dark energy in our lives. There is always a balance of light energy and dark energy.

It is how we process and deal with energy, light or dark, that gives our life events power, or lack of. We have freedom of choice.

When you are getting ready to toss your cards, take the deck and shuffle it for awhile. As you are shuffling think about your day ahead. Think about the chores, responsibilities and play you hope to incorporate into your day. If you are going for a bank loan focus on that. If you plan on vegging on the couch watching soaps and eating bon-bons, think about that! Be as honest, accurate and clear as you are able in your thoughts while shuffling the deck.

If you are having a difficult time with something, be it personal or professional, something to do with the immediate people, places and things in your life, focus on that.

When you feel the cards have been sufficiently shuffled, place them face down and cut them three times to the left with your left hand. Starting on the right, pick up the piles one at a time.

One at a time, draw the top three cards from the deck, place them in a row. You now have cards for your reading.

I laid a three card spread this morning. My results and reading are below:

The first card I drew, representing my past, was the Ace of Discs. Aces relate to gifts, something coming into being. Discs relate to 'work' and the 'real world'. Getting the Ace of Discs in this position that represents the past, indicates to me a financial opportunity I may have let slip through my fingers due to insecurities about my abilities and perhaps the inability to commitment to a job or task.

The second card I drew was also an Ace, the Ace of Swords. Going with the theory that Aces relate to gifts, something coming into being, tells me I again have an opportunity to profit financially and emotionally from my present endeavors. The Ace of Swords indicates a choice to succeed. The opportunity is still being offered to me by the Universe. Today I will choose to succeed.

The final card I drew, the card representing the future, is the World. The World is one of 22 Major Arcana cards. There are 78 cards total in the Motherpeace tarot deck. The 56 remaining cards are referred to as the Minor Arcana. They are divided into four suits, Swords, Wands, Cups and Discs.

As I mentioned the card in the third position reveals the Future. The World is a great card to get in this position. Th World card essentially depicts the endless cyclic movement of the Universe. Key messages and completion and self-acceptance. Getting this card, in this position, indicates to me that I will succeed in my endeavors in direct relation to how much time, thought and positive energies I put into the lessons being offered to me.

To sum it up, I'd say it was an uplifting and positive little reading to start my day off.

If you are interested in a quick three card reading, message me with a few generic details like your gender and ballpark age. I will toss the cards and see what messages I can see to share with you.

Thank for checking out my page.

Make it a great day.
