Hi there,

My name is Shelley. I live on beautiful  Quadra Island. Quadra Island is located off the east coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. 

The population of Quadra Island is approximately 2500-3000.  It triples during the summer months when many tourists come here to experience the Pacific West Coast nature and beauty. 

We live close to the Pacific Ocean waterfront. We used to live right on the shore but circumstance has us now livng a bit inland.

Still, every day, I have the opportunity  to see a variety of animals. Eagles, seals, blue heron, ravens, and occasionally porpoises are abundant.  Deer are prolific on Quadra.  There are also cougars though I have (thankfully!)yet to come across any.

I have seen killer whales, usually when on the ten minute ferry ride to Vancouver Island, and on occasion from shore, an absolutely spectacular vision. 

Small and large boats including kayaks, fishing boats, water taxis and tugboats pulling big barges, use the Discovery Passage waterway daily. 

A ten minute scenic ride across Discovery Passage on a BC Ferries  vessel takes us to Campbell River on Vancouver Island when we need to go to 'town' for appointments and to take care of business.   

My objective is to write entertaining and/or useful hubs to share with the HubPages community and web surfers. 

My goal is to improve my writing skills, style and ability.
